Is it rude to preach to someone about your religion when its clear that someone doesnt want it?

This isn't a call out post. Certain circumstances had me thinking about this and all my experiences with people of other religions.

I've been preached to so many times throughout my life, both when I was a Christian and when I wasn't any longer. When I was atheist I never talked about it except when I was asked and I wouldn't delve too deeply into my reasoning as I wasn't quite comfortable with it since my family ridiculed me. Now as a Wiccan, I'll talk about it when asked or if it relates to a certain belief of mine. I never try to convert anyone, but I do try to get people to actually do their research when their beliefs on my religion rely on stereotypes and false information. I've never appreciated being preached to so I never intend to do it towards others. When someone asks that I stop talking about it, I will unless other people show interest then I'll tell that person that they can either tune it out or walk away.
