Public or private?

Not sure where to post but looking for advice from Aussie mums or mums to be......I have private cover, was pregnant 9 weeks in June and had first obs appt which showed no heartbeat so went in for d&c; 😢 Now 5 weeks and 1 day 😍 and all going well due July next year. This time coincides with an annual family gathering to grieve the passing of our young nephew. I have to and want to be there but it is a 2-3 days drive. If I go private now then the fees can run into the thousands and chances are the obs wont deliver the baby as I will be a long way away. Should I just go public from the start or get the best care. I am early 40's so high risk. Any advice appreciated.
