Question About Shy Boyfriend

So me and my boyfriend have been together about 4 months now? And he's incredibly shy and doesn't typically tell me that I look nice or stuff like that unless we are being intimate or he's trying to get me in the mood.

Well last night at my brother's wedding he drank. A lot. They had an open bar and he just went to town 😂 well i discovered that when he's drunk he isn't afraid to tell me anything. He told me how beautiful, gorgeous and pretty I am and that I have no idea how much he loves me. He also told me that I have the body of a model/pornstar 😂 He even started to cry a little bit when he realized I had to drive myself home and that he was worried I wouldn't make it home safe ❤️ he said that when he's sober he's super awkward and shy but when drunk he's incredibly confident and not afraid to tell me how he feels 💕💕💕

My question is: does anybody else have significant others that are like this? He's been hurt in the past by girlfriends which is why I think he's so shy when it comes to expressing feelings. Just curious!
