As long as you are not breastfeeding and drinking at the same time it is perfectly safe once you no longer feel the effects of the alcohol. Milk stouts are thought to help with the production of breastmilk, but only because of the barley used to brew them. Eating oatmeal for breakfast or eating soup with barley would be a healthier option because although it is perfectly fine to drink beer (IPAs will work as well) its always recommended to eat your nutrients as whole food. Alcohol releases oxytocin which can help lower stress and in return raise milk production, but it is also known that just the presence of alcohol in your blood stream decreases your production while you still feel the effects. Chose a draft with a low APV and have only one a day right after breastfeeding so the alcohol will be fully metabolized before the next feeding. Pumping and dumping is a waste of your milk, it is not automatically ruined because youve had a drink. Remember, if you couldnt drive after what youve had then you shouldnt breast feed your baby. <3
