Pelvic pains

I have a sharp stabbing pain which makes me jump which also turns into a sharp ache which comes every now and again around the pelvic area,just about where I believe my right ovary is. I went to the doctors about it as I was told it could have been an ectopic pregnancy by a nurse but the doctor confirmed I wasn't pregnant. I am on the combined pill and now is about the time I should be ovulating, could this be the reason for the pain, however I do get it throughout my cycle.. Another factor could possibly be because when I masturbate (sorry tmi) I tend to hold in the cum, like I push down inside to stop it coming out!  Anyone else experienced this pain or could anyone please give me any help or advice?
