Advice needed

So I got offered a job to decorate apartment in Connecticut for a friend of mine company. I would be paid $6,000 and receive benefits travel and all expenses paid for and more but my boyfriend doesn't agree with it. What should I do? I haven't told him the guy is my ex because he would go crazy and get super jealous. This a great opportunity for me to make a resume like no other, and I could use the money to pay off debt what should I do?
