No. You can't take care of anyone else if you do not take care of yourself.

No. It's like that annoying saying, you've got to put the oxygen mask on yourself before you can help anyone else. To unpack that a bit more, I wish more people would, especially women, because it often leads to resentment  (putting others before yourself) and just getting worn the hell out. I think it's expected of women across the planet, in for example Japan women even lose their names and are referred to as "mom" once they have children, but people are seeing that what is often misconstrued as "selflessness" is actually pretty harmful over time. Of course "looking out for number one" has different implications in different circumstances. It could be as cut throat as sabotaging a co-worker in order to get a promotion, or making your spouse watch the kids while you take a few days vacation alone. I'm all about the latter, not the former because when you hurt your integrity you're not really keeping your best interests in mind.

However, that doesn't mean it's ok to screw people over. If you have what you NEED, then don't be greedy; help someone else out who has less.

Nope,  you have to be there for yourself before you can be there for others!  This is how most women lose themselves as   they become mothers.  They think that their child needs everything and this is just not true.

It depends on the context. 🤷🏼‍♀️ If it's going to negatively affect my family by not doing so, then no. If it is, then maybe. 
For example, right now I'm pregnant and sick A LOT. My number #1 priority is to make sure I don't die of vomiting, lol. If I need to feed myself before my daughter to prevent that, I will. But if my daughter is sick & needs to be taken care of, I'm not going to not touch her bc I don't want to get sick.

being your own number 1 priority is in no way selfish. all you have is yourself. humans are lonely beings trying to convince themselves that they are not by putting others before themselves. you must love yourself before you can love others. you can't pour from any empty cup

Atheistic Satanism heavily emphasizes taking care of one’s self before others. You can’t care for the weak or needy when you yourself are also weak. 
Self care is hugely important not only to aid other’s, but to reduce stress and resentment for yourself. My bf during or first year of dating had an incredibly hard time doing “self care”, whereas it’s super easy for me to put myself in a good spot. His struggling with this was a huge detriment to our relationship and ultimately lead to a month long breakup where he came to terms with what his needs were. 
It’s not that he’s incapable of caring for himself, but he took it upon himself to try to help and please all people, going so far as to convince himself people NEEDED his help, when really he needed his help the most. This caused a ton of stress and weight on his shoulders, resentment towards me because while I was happy go lucky, he was under the impression that he was my “dad” because he was trying to provide for me when I didn’t need it. You can see where it’d get to be overwhelming. 
After the month of being apart he really collected himself and took some advice I’d given him. Now he’s like an entirely different person and while still tries so hard to provide for me (like bruh stop) he can and does put his health first.
