He really loves this girl and can’t really afford a ring, so I’m helping him with the down payment on the ring and then he is going to make payments on the rest.. would you do it?

no bc if you need to put a down payment and make payments on a ring, youre spending too much money on the ring. engagment rings are a huge ass scam. if youre broke, you >definitely< shouldnt be doing that kind of stuff. if someone loves you, it doesnt matter what the ring costs and you shouldnt have to go broke for a ring. if someone asked me for help buying a ring, id give them a big fucking lecture with the hope that they stop being gullible and buying into this scam. i think thats more helpful than letting them do something so stupid with money they dont even have. i would hope that they would be smarter about their financial decisions especially if theyre committing to someone where their future is affected by the others financial decisions.

You don’t need to buy an expensive ring. I’ve even seen really nice cheap ones for less than $5 on eBay.

My dad has bought me a car, straight up gave me my deceased grandma’s car to start, housed me, put me through beauty school and now tat school. 
I think the LEAST I can do for him is help with an engagement ring😱. Lord if he kept debts my two sisters and I would be screwed.
