Induction at 39w5d
Sooo... my entire preg baby was breech. 4th baby. First c section. 🤦🏼♀️ or so I thought. Went in for c section and told he had flipped at 39w. So thrilled. I wasn't dilated so they sent me home.
Appointment was following week and I asked my doctor if I could be induced. But for me this didn't really mean cytotec bc I was already to 2cm. She agreed for the next morning, gave me a good membrane sweep and sent me home. I had non-painful contractions all night. When I arrived for my "induction" doctor on call would decide if I would have cytotec to ripen cervix or just pitocin. Bc it was my 4th and although my cervix was still pretty thick they decided just to start pitocin which is what I was hoping for.
Pitocin was started at 9:30 am. Each of my previous three births were active labor w painful contractions or 3cm and pitocin drip. So I was ready for it. I immediately asked for the epidural. I love it and it works perfectly for me. I don't like the way the catheter makes me feel like I have to pee so I usually push the button to top off the epidural but knowing doing so makes my already low blood pressure lower asked for a flush of fluids from my Iv ahead of time to stave off any issues. Anyways... all was going great except for that each of my other three children and husband were battling the flu which decided to descend upon me while I was giving birth. So I ended up puking the entire time. Crapped on myself (no control bc of the epidural) and eventually was given anti nauseas medicine. When I was nearing time to push I was completely exhausted and wondering how I was ever going to muster up the energy to push. All my previous babies were pushed out in about 20-30 min. But even that seemed daunting.
I began to feel a bit better. At 7:25 it was time to push. One big push and his head was out. Doctor said stop pushing and slid the rest of his 9lb 13oz body out. No tearing. Really just a wonderful experience despite the flu like symptoms.
