Tuberculosis & Hep B shots while pregnant?

My new job wants me to have a tuberculosis skin test & a hepatitis B shot.. I’m only 4W3D! What should I️ do? I’m waiting for the OB to call me back but she’s taking too long 😩

I’m not sure about the Hep B test but for the tuberculosis test you can have your blood drawn and have it tested that way. I had to get it done for my job while I was 20 weeks pregnant and they had me do that instead. It costs a little more than the skin test but my employer covered it. I like the blood test better anyways because it’s good for two years whereas the skin test you have to do every year which is a pain.

I worked for Employee Health at a local hospital and we required TB testing and offered vaccines to employees who wanted them. The TB testing and Hep B vaccine are safe during pregnancy. If offered, do not get varicella or the MMR vaccine, they are not safe during pregnancy. Hope this helps!

the tb test is perfectly safe. I don't have knowledge about the hep b.
