Is there any difference in training and or education between a midwife at the hospital or one at a birthing center?

Not really but it varies by state. Midwives typically have a nursing degree and I️ think have an extra two years of training in midwifery.

Training, probably not. However, I am using a midwife that is part of an OB team/hospital and find her to be very pro-medicine and intervention. For example, I feel like she wants a lot of unnecessary tests, encourages "safe" medicines like Tylenol  (not saying it isn't safe, just that I'd rather not risk it unless I'm so miserable I can't function). It honestly feels like I'm just going to the doctor.  I'm led to believe that an independent midwife would be more inclined to suggest alternative options, do fewer tests, etc.
