I’m 38 weeks pregnant today. Last Monday at 37 + 1 weeks pregnant, I had to go get my growth ultrasound. My baby has a single umbilical artery so they expected her to be small. Her head is about a week ahead and her arms and legs are a week behind. Her belly is almost 3-4 weeks behind at the 3rd percentile. The MFM seemed very concerned and told me he thinks I should be induced at 39 weeks and recommends it. When I talked to my ob he said the MFM told him I should be induced between 39-40 weeks but in the very next sentence he basically said I could go to 41 weeks if she doesn’t come on her own.

My mom had to be induced at 38 weeks with me due to premature placental aging. I asked my doctor if I’d be able to be induced this week (at 38 weeks) because I want her to grow better and she would grow a lot better outside where she doesn’t have to rely on the placenta.

Should I continue to push my doctor to induce me this week? I feel like it would be best for her.
