In Love With Your Bestfriend

How would I tell my bestfriend that I am secretly in love with him? We’ve been bestfriends for the last 3 years and my mom has told me over and over again we would end up dating. The problem is he isn’t the dating type. My feelings have grown so much and trying to hide them is becoming too hard... how do I tell him?
