How do you afford daycare?

It is a darn mortgage payment!!!!!!!! My husband and I do not make a lot of money with our careers. Yet we make too much for any form of government assistance. Our only concern with ttc is how are we going to afford daycare fulltime?

Maybe consider home daycare options in your neighborhood? or... splitting the days up (can a relative watch the baby 1 day a week, can you work from home 1 day a week, can you only pay for daycare three days a week?), or see if a SAHM in your neighborhood would want some extra income to take another child on? Maybe a nanny share (where you and one or two other moms share one nanny and rotate homes?)

honestly for us,me staying home was better than paying for daycare. I use to watch a few kids for extra money

I quit working for this reason!! isn't it crazy. we had to budget and pay off some debt but we're making it work.

A lot of my mommy friends had the same issue, so they looked into family babysitting. Cheaper and you can trust them more. For me, I became a SAHM, especially when my job would literally pay for daycare and gas only lol.

I became a SAHM because it was more expensive for me to go back to work, and I actually make a fair amount. Daycare is just so expensive!

My husband and I were concerned about this too. He made the decision to work a second shift job and he will be home with baby during the, and I’ll be home with her at night. We both know this won’t be for forever, just until the cost of daycare goes down because our daughter won’t be a infant any more.

Unfortunately, hubby and I have to have opposite schedules. Which totally blows.

We don’t that’s why we are deep in debt. For years daycare/preschool was more than our mortgage.

It is like a second mortgage, but that’s just the reality of it 🤷🏼‍♀️ my husband and I planned around this financially for a year before ttc. We knew daycare plus other baby expenses would cost us approximately $1500 a month. So our goal was to work toward earning more/paying off debts in order to have that extra money to afford a baby. Once we got there, we started trying! I think that’s the smartest way to go about it. Find out how much extra money you’ll need and work towards having that.
