Should the followers of Charles Manson be released now that he’s dead?

Specifically Leslie Van Houten, do you think they should be eligible for parole, or released now that the person who influenced them is gone?

They still committed crimes, yes? Then no. I wouldn't see why they should be, if their sentence was justifiable with their part in the murders.

If you killed someone you killed someone. Just because Charles Manson was their leader it doesn’t mean that it was completely his fault that they decided to go through with it. Justice should be served.

He didn’t make them kill anyone, they were adults who chose to follow him and do what he said so they should serve their time for it.
As for their ages and compassionate release, they wouldn’t be able to cope out in society after being institutionalised for so long and with the way the world has advanced where would they even start? They’d probably just go from prison to a care home taking up a space from somebody else who needs it.

I don’t think his death should be a factor. They’re all getting pretty close to compassionate release age though, and doubt they’re any danger to society at this point.

They're behind bars as they should be. Are they of age where they could really do anything? I doubt it however no matter if they're released or not they have to live with what they've done.
