Epidural?

I'm really hoping I can do it without one because there is no way I can just sit still while they pump that GIANT needle into my spine. I will move, twich or jerk I just know it. I've yanked blood tests and IVs out of my arms before because I am that terrified of needles!!! I'm hoping and praying my brith is fast! like by the time I get to the hospital the head is already out fast. I've read so many womens stories of that happening and they are amazing. I want that! if not I will defiantly try to have a natural bath tub birth!!! 💜💜💜

I was really against an epidural before my first. I had the slowest labor, it was almost 48 hours. After like 36 without it, no sleep, my body was exhausted so I decided to do it and see if I could get some rest before having to push. I’m not sure I’d have had the energy otherwise. So I don’t regret it. I think having a set birth plan doesn’t fully make sense. So many things can change/happen within a short amount of time. If you do have one, keep it in your mind you might need to be flexible.

It is doable if that's the route you want to take! My first birth I purposefully waited as long as possible before heading to the hospital. I showed up fully dilated and with just enough time to push our sweet boy out. This time around I'm really excited to do a homebirth with our baby girl in the home we love and just bought a year and a half ago. I practiced a lot of meditation and positive affirmations and read Ina May Gaskin books before my first and will do that again this time. Whatever you do it will be great in the end. Best of luck!

I had no intentions of getting an epidural, it just isnt common in the UK. My daughter was 9lb 5 and although im 5ft 2 it reallt wasnt bad at all. I think its very much a mind game (and luck that you dont have a particularly difficult birth like breach etc) but i felt more in control and did the whole thing with gas and air. I remember saying to my husband I expected that to be worse just minutes after having her and I dont regret my decision at all

If you dont want to get it then don't. talk to your ob/ midwife about hanging out in a bath until baby is ready to come out. the water eases the pain.

3rd pregnancy and there is absolutely nothing wrong with Epidural and You barely feel the needle.. specially compared to the contraction pains

The pain you feel during labor is intense enough where you forget those fears. I unfortunately did not have enough time to get an epidural because I progressed too quickly.
