Dating with braces?

Im getting braces next Thursday, and leaving them on for about 18-22 months. Im 15 almost 16and already really self conscious about what guys think of me, I was wondering if having braces ever affected your dating life? Or your s/o’s opinion of you?
Im truly worried that my crush will find me unattractive due to them.

A lot of people find braces cute and just think about how good your teeth will look once they come off. No one cares about them. I had two friends in high school who were dating and actually both had braces on. I used to bug them all the time about how they would get stuck together, but they really won’t.

I was in almost the same situation! I got my braces at 15. I had a boyfriend when I got them but we were basically over at that point so we never kissed. But I remember being SO terrified and insecure about my appearance with braces. I let that consume me for the longest time, but PLEASE don't do that to yourself! Most boys don't care and the ones that do are crap. I met and got together with my current boyfriend during my last 6-7mos of having my braces and he never cared one bit. We never had any issues with kissing (Which I was so nervous about because I'd never kissed anyone with braces), he honestly didn't mind. And every so often when I went to get them tightened and changed the color he'd even comment on the color(s) I chose and would ask why I chose them. Honestly dating with braces isn't bad at all! They don't normally hinder you from kissing or anything like that. I know that it'll get some taking used to, I wouldn't even smile with my braces showing until months after I got them, but trust me, you'll look just fine with them. They don't affect your appearance too much and most boys just don't care. Please don't worry or stress too much about it!! You'll be just fine, don't worry 😊

At your age especially no one will care. I work with some super cute adults who have braces and it adds to their quirky cuteness. Almost like a signature. plus it's better to have straight teeth in the end to always have a complex over your smile. Be grateful you are getting them because it's one less thing to be insecure about as an adult.

I really dont think guys mind, as long as you are careful when kissing or if you are orally intimate. They can definitely get in the way! Just tough it out for the short time and in the end it will be worth it!
