Scared, bleeding at 23 weeks
Hi all,
I was hoping someone had been through a similar experience and had everything turn out fine. I have never had bleeding or spotting during this pregnancy, I'm 23 weeks today, and woke up around 9:45 AM with what felt like discharge or maybe a little urine. I went to the restroom and wiped and there was reddish pink mixed in with some discharge. I continued to wipe to see if more was coming and there was a bit of dark pink still coming out. I called my OB office and was told to go to triage. I went immediately and baby was hooked up to monitor; her heartbeat is good and steady, my vitals were good and I was experiencing some very mild period-like cramping. The nurse and doctor decided not to do a vaginal exam as there was not sufficient reason to go poking around in there and possibly cause more irritation. I should note, I have not had intercourse or any foreplay in the past week as I've been visiting family without my SO. I also had my monthly checkup with my OB yesterday and everything was totally fine, no vaginal exam. I mention this because I know those are things that commonly irritate the cervix and cause bleeding. However, while I was home I did do a lot of lifting and moving boxes/items for my parents; they are remodeling and trying to get rid of stuff. I tried to be mindful of lifting too much but on Sunday I probably over did it; I wanted to help and it was my last day so I did a lot. I really have no explanation as to what was causing today's spotting and the doctors ruled out contractions. It was still really scary. They let me go home and just stated that I needed to take it easy, monitor any bleeding and come back if I experienced contractions or increased cramping. I have not had any more signs of bleeding but I have been having light sort of period-type cramping. No idea why. Any similar experiences or words of advice would be so greatly appreciated. Thanks mamas!
