2nd baby shower different gender

My mom wants to throw me a baby shower but can’t afford to pay for it. My husband really wants to have one bc we’re having a girl this time & we had one with my son so he feels we should do something for this baby too. I mentioned having a diaper & wipes party where everyone just bring diapers and wipes but they both don’t like the idea. Should i just let my mom throw the baby shower and have my husband pay for everything? Wwyd? I told him the money we use on having a baby shower could actually just go towards things for the baby but he really wants to have one and so does my mom. No snobby comments on common courtesy of a 2nd baby shower. everyone’s different and people can do whatever they please.
