Omg 😡
So 6 months ago we( husband and I) gave my Cousin a $4,000 loan because she called me saying they're behind on rent, car payments, can't afford food for their 3 kids and she's now pregnant with her 4th baby and only her husband is working😥 I had my lawer write out a contract saying that she would pay us back slowly, but surely. If her and her husband don't start making payments 6month from the contract date($200 a month) we will take them too court For payment. Well her, her husband and kids came too our house for Thanksgiving along with their neighbors(who we didn't know were coming). My cousin pulls up in a 2016 Cadillac, brags about new furniture and t gen has the audacity to say "money is tight this yr,so the kids are each just getting $40". Her kids are 13,9 and 7. My Heart was racing and I was livid, money was tight before we loaned money but now it's really tight because of the new Cadillac and New bedroom furniture. We loaned them money under the pretencese that they would catch up on bills and rent! Now they can't even afford a decent Christmas for their children because they are being selfish. So,my husband pulls them aside and is calm and asked "hey have y'all started to pay back your rent and car bills"? They looked nervous and said they were working on it and were still short and they just recently applied for food stamps. My husband reminds them that this is their 6month mark and starting December they need to pay $200.Well they literally told us they can't and that they would like an extension. I literally just walked away fuming because I didn't want to argue with all our family their. A few days have now past and I'm wanting to contact my lawyer ASAP and start a case too get our money back too us...Am I over reacting? I'm not sure what too do,I'm just so mad that they would WASTE money on a new car (they had 2 perfectly good running cars) and New furniture, not too mention their kids are missing out on Christmas and are just getting handed $40 each.... uhg!
