Do you feel like UK and US Mum’s views differ greatly on these forums?

Question

I always feel like only a couple of people get what I’m trying to say (usually UK Mum’s!) 
Whether benefit related, work situations, childcare arrangements, Christmas, life in general.. maybe US Mum’s just have a different view? 💁🏼

Its because economies and services are different, in different countries.
I live in New Zealand and things that happen in the US are foreign to me. Like getting a bill from the hospital with lots of numbers on it lol

Yes.  Even views regarding controversial topics like circumcision and spanking I've noticed are so different between US and the AUS people I've spoken to about it.  I once said my kids have head lice and was told by a US mum how disgusting and filthy my kids must be, like they're some killer disease.  Head lice is as common as a cold here and is really not a big deal.  Plus head lice love clean hair,  soooo my kids can't be too filthy 😂

Yep I get you, I'm Irish and I'm baffled by American reactions to how many believe spanking is so normal and chicken pox is deadly. It's so common here, every child gets it but it's looked on like some crazy dangerous disease there 🤔

As an American I see the differences here in America based upon where a person lives. I’m from the east coast and parenting differs greatly than what I see from west coast parents. I now live in Italy where I had a bit of culture shock from how children are treated here compared to back where I’m from. I’m not saying that last sentence in a bad way, it’s just different from what I’m used to. 
I will say that although we have many cultural differences, we all have so much love for our children and just want to be the best parent possible that it shows how similar we are on a deep down level.

Yes definitely. I’m from the US but tend to lean towards the European view cause statistically speaking they have their shit together better than we do so I generally trust their judgment and opinion on things. Most US people seem to be completely blind on or uneducated on a number of issues like spanking and circumcision for example whereas the European people on here seem to be more educated on the issues

Even in the US, we don't all agree on the same thing. Views vary depending where you live (south, west coast vs east coast).  We all do things differently here too. Some things are just simply out of our control here too. Like I would LOVE to not have to pay certain health care bills or get more time off for maternity leave. It's just not our decision to make.

In the US we don’t get benefits if we have a baby. Having a baby costs thousands out of our own pockets. And childcare is anywhere from $1000-4K a month out of pocket. People in the UK and elsewhere are better taken care of by their governments.

I was born/raised in America but my Mum is English so I do things the way I was raised. 
I thinks Americans are in general more uptight and that includes parenting whereas my mother and family are a lot more relaxed about things.
