did you feed your child rice cereal or straight to pureed food?

my daughter is 4 1/2 months im not sure if i should start rice cereal or wait till she is 6 months and go right too purees,  ive heard i shouldn't and i should Give her rice cereal.... but never reasons why and why not, so pick an option and explain in the comments...im ftm and need help!!! pic for attention.

cereal is empty calories. Ur feeding Ur baby non nutritional value. babies before 6 months,  need ALL  nutrients,  not empty calories

No rice cereal because of lack of nutritional value. The starch turns to sugar. I do baby oatmeal instead. started with purees and oatmeal. Check into baby led weaning when your LO turns 6 months.

we have been doing organic cereal in a bowl  (NEVER IN A BOTTLE ), with a dash of fruit on top ( blueberry/ raspberries/ blackberry etc) since she turned 6 months old. she's 13 months now. always in a bowl. always organic. always with fruit. and always in a sitting up right position. with water after.

There's no reason to use rice cereal, in fact there's evidence that it may do more harm than good.
We didn't do purees either, look into baby led weaning. My daughter started eating table foods at 6 months. Wouldnt do it any other way.

No there no value to baby. start baby food at 6 months. I myself started to introduce it my my kids when they were 4 months only tiny amounts to see how it would go. if they didn't like do it then I just waited till 6 months.

Nope. I went straight to foods. I made them with breast milk. He was around 4m old when we started. I now give him cereal with purée: just to add texture and thickness.

Rice cereal isn’t recommended anymore and it’s very pointless. There’s no nutritional benefit to it. We tried puréed foods at 4 months (per doctors recommendation) and I wasn’t a fan. She just turned 6 months and we’re now doing baby led weaning.

Neither. Didn’t do cereal because we didn’t do grains until 1 year. And at 6 months we started baby-led weaning with whole chunks of squishy foods like avocado or banana and moved in from there. We occasionally did organic purées in pouches later on if we were on the go.
