Birthday buddies: FTM birth story (long)

H

My daughter turned 3 months old a few days ago and I've started to write a detailed birth story, but wanted to share a shorter version without all the back story! So my due date was September 16th and we have a handful of family members/cousins/friends (including mine) who have September birthdays so we weren't going to be surprised if she shared a birthday with someone. I had a really eady pregnancy up until the 3rd trimester and started to get uncomfortable. Anyways we were celebrating my birthday and my brother-in-laws at my parents house on Thursday August 30th with chicken enchiladas and I was looking forward to having my last day of work and my birthday the next day (I was quitting). No symptoms besides my swollen feet which I had for a while due to t he grossly hot summer. We go home and my husband toes upstairs to take a test for online school and I go to bed about 8:30. When he came to bed at midnight we talked a little and I went to the bathroom. I had a little pink on the toilet paper figured I was starting to loose my mucus plug and got excited even though that didn't mean a whole lot, but it was a step in the right direction towards labor haha I had a few mild cramps that I could snooze through and just thought was a part of looking my plug. I had to get up to go to the bathroom again at 4 AM and actually lost it. I started having some consistent contractions and by 5 I hopped in the shower because they were in my back and figured this was it so I better shower. Since I wasn't going to make it to my pedicure/massage on Sunday to induce labor I figured I better cut my toenails now haha While cutting them on the toilet my water broke and I was barely able to flip the toilet seat up to catch most of the water at 5:50. My water had a green tinge to it and I woke up my husband at that point who laughed and asked "Are you trying to have her on your birthday?" Haha I then called my midwife. I called my work saying I wouldn't make it for my last day (funny back story). I ate my leftover chicken enchiladas and we first met our midwife at the birthing center to check the color of the waters on my pad (I was slow leaking) for meconium stains before I labor more at home. She suggested we go to the hospital (which we were planning on delivering at) for baby monitoring just in case, but she wasn't worried. We checked in at 7:30 and I was at a 2 and 80% effaced. We decided to to let my body take it's course for a while to see how I progressed. At noon we decided to start a little pitocin so I wouldn't have to labor into the night since I hardly slept since midnight. At 3 PM I was a at a 4 asnd got a little discouraged, but knew it took time. We turned off the pitocin anyways (only ever turned up to 3) since my contractions were getting pretty intense. With only 15 minutes of pushing my baby girl was out at 4:47 PM. ONLY one hour and 47 minutes from being a 4 to being OUT! It was a tough transition haha My baby girl did great the entire labor and weighed 6 lbs 5 oz at 15 days early! 😊 I am so excited to share my birthday with her and start making some birthday traditions like us getting away for our birthday 😀 I loved everything about my labor and my midwife was great! She actually went to high school with both of our older sister's (small community) and I graduated with her younger sister! Alright enough talk and here is my baby, Scarlet Ann-Marie!!

And here is some baby pics comparison!
