People only change if they are the ones wanting to change. Trying to change someone else won’t really work.

I think it’s rare. It does happen though. Rules and expectations have to be set. They need to WANT to completely change, not for you but to better themselves

If they’re willing to go to therapy and/or couples therapy, and if they never have before, I️ think that’s a huge step in improving a relationship. They’re admitting they’re wrong or did something wrong, which is a great first step. Everyone can change no matter what they’ve done and how bad, some people just choose not to and some people do.
