I have no idea how to find out if the line is horizontal or vertical by x = -3. Do you understand this? My teacher never explained it and i can’t find out how to do it online.

So the X-axis is the horizontal one and the Y-axis is the vertical axis. When you draw a line for x = 1 then along that line x always has to equal one, but the numbers on the y axis can change. 
An x=1 line would be drawn vertically from the point x=1 (as you move up/down the line x will always be 1 but y will increase/decrease), and a y=1 line would be drawn horizontally (as you mive across the line y is always 1 while the x value will increase/decrease)

Basically how i make sure im right so if it were x=2, whatever y would be, it wouldnt matter, bc x would always equal 2(whenever it says x=something its vertical, its its y=something its horizontal)

If you can’t remember, do a quick t chart. So if your equation is X=-3, then you would have ordered pairs like (-3,0),(-3,2),(-3,10). And no matter what your y-value is, your x value is always -3. So go to the left 3  units, and then draw a line through all your y values. Vertical line 😊

I get it! When it says x= something, then you make a line parallel to the x-axis that intercepts the y at the given number. For y= something, you make a line parallel to the y-axis that intersects the x-axis at the given number. Hopefully this helps!
