It's safe, but be prepared . Sometimes hair acts differently when pregnant with coloring . I'm a hairstylist and I tell my preggos this will either be perfect or we will have to work at it ... you never know how the hair will act . The hormone changes in the body affects hair , same as medication , etc .

You should avoid any unnecessary chemical exposure in the first trimester. I'm waiting until I'm well into the second trimester to get my hair colored again.
