I am from SF and am very liberal by most standards. I’m currently living on the east coast and have made friends from all over the country including one from the south who is a conservative Christian. She does not support things like gay marriage however she is not hateful. I know this because I’m living in another liberal city that has a big gay community and have seen her be perfectly sweet to my gay friends. I feel like she is judgmental though, and don’t know how to feel about that. If she is not hateful, and doesn’t do crazy stuff like protest trans rights, is it bad for me to be friends with her? My allegiances are definitely with equality, but I don’t see why I can’t have a friend that has a different point of view. Worth mentioning that she’s like my best friend here.
