Metformin Help???

Ladies I Started Taking Metformin yesterday well my stomach has been upset all day today. Well, I didn't take it today because of it upset my stomach is it okay to take it every other day instead of everyday?

Metformin can cause stomach upset- it's one of the main side effects of the drug. The only advice I have is that I noticed that the cleaner I ate the less it bothered me. Also - when starting out on it, start at a lower dose and gradually increase till you get to your recommended dosage. I do think it would be ok to take every other day when starting it. If it continues to bother you let your doctor know because it is possible to have a bad reaction to it.

I started mine 2 weeks ago and had the up set stomach and diarrhea bad. I take mine twice a day I usually take it around 630 am and go bk to sleep for 30 mins and then I take it right before bed and I’m finally adjusted to it. It was hard to stick with it.

metformin causes diarrhea and stomach aches unfortunately but very common side effect. they put me on viberzi to help with the problems from metformin

make sure you are eating at least 30 minutes before you take it!

I quit taking my metformin because it was making me puke. I was told to make sure I took it with my largest meal of the day If that helps at all.

metformin is designed to make u not crave things that spike blood sugar (carbs,sugar) so if u eat those it makes u sick. good news is if u stay on it after a week or so u aclimate to it.

Personally, it never gave me any trouble, however my boyfriend had those often reported stomach problems. Everyone is different in what works or doesn't, we found that taking the metformin in the middle of the meal really helps to hamper some of those harsher stomach issues.
