Painting worries

i am just under 6 weeks pregnant, and twice in the last week they have been painting at work. There is no ventilation at all in this building - the ducted air system means even if only one room is being painted, everywhere can smell it. I left after two hours the first time, and have just moved to an office that is not affected today, but am so stressed about how this can effect the baby! I haven't told work about the pregnancy yet which makes it harder for me to make a fuss about it (I've only been in the job for 6 weeks...). Can anyone put my mind at ease? I have my first scan in a week, and won't see my doctor until after Christmas.
