Episiotomy Home Birth?

Hey I'm based in the uk- does anyone know if an episiotomy can be performed at a home birth or would u be transferred to hospital? Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Why would you want an episiotomy? They are not necessary and tearing naturally (if it even happens) has been shown to heal faster than a surgical cut. Not everyone will have issues with tearing during childbirth so why would you want to be cut unnecessarily in such a sensitive spot? Not bashing on you just legitimately curious as to what the reasoning is.

I’m hoping for a home birth 🇬🇧. My understanding is that a home birth reduces the risk of having one but I’m unsure. Has someone suggested you might need one? I’d give your midwife a call if you’re worried.
