Fasting for wisdom teeth?

Ok I’m getting my wisdom teeth removed this weekend and I’m getting numbed with just local anesthesia since none are seriously impacted but they said I had to fast for 6 hours before hand? I’m confused why has anyone had this happen to them? Could it be for the antibiotics, or? Kinda nervous for the whole thing

It’s also to prevent you from having to get up and use the restroom while they’re preforming the procedure. I assume they’re sedating you for the procedure otherwise they wouldn’t have asked you to fast.

You’re supposed to fast so there isn’t anything in your stomach, because if you throw up while you’re under, you could choke to death.

It’s normal to have to fast for procedures so don’t worry about that. I had to have my wisdom teeth cut out this year & it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. Get soft ice packs for your face, they’ll be helpful. I even brought mine to work the week after bc I have to talk a lot & that way I’d have them Incase I was having some pain but it was all good
