Baby’s last name

Me and my unborn sons father aren’t together. He was manipulative and both mentally and verbally abusive towards me.

HIS family has witnessed this and support my decision for leaving him.

I’ve recently decided the baby will have BOTH of our last names and I’m worried he might try to legally change it to just his without my permission or try to convince the court to do it.

Can he?

I need REAL answers....

For the reason of giving the baby his last name. It’s out of respect for his FAMILY. They have supported me threw this and have been so kind when they could have sided with him because he’s their son.

I’m giving the baby his family’s last name.

But because we aren’t together and because of how he treated me I’d like to have my last name in there too.

My last name is 9 letters long

His are 8 letters long.

So they are on the longer side but I still would like to do it.

Plus should i have mine first ? Then his?

Or his first then mine?

I thought I had it planned already but plans have changed.

I don’t really want him to have rights

But he’s SUPPOSEDLY getting help 😒

I just don’t trust him after everything he’s said and done.

I do however want his family involved 100% and would never exclude them.

I live in South Carolina. It’s a mother state.
