Baby movement

I am a ftm and I just started feeling my little man move last week at 17 weeks. At first I only felt it late at night and just like once MAYBE twice. The last few days (now 18 weeks) I felt him move once or twice in the afternoon. Today I've been having random sharp pains but not intense (if that makes sense) where I usually feel him. Is it that normal? Has anyone else had this? Could it just be him moving? It doesn't feel like cramps or anything like that.
