Feeling Guilty About Baby # 2?

Question

Any second time mothers feel guilty about having another baby? I'm excited about # 2 but I also feel guilty for having another one, like it is going to take away from my first child. I feel like he should be enough and I shouldn't need another one to be happy. He is only going to be in 19 months when the new baby is born. Did any other moms feel this way?

Answer

My first born is 3.5 and we are expecting our 2nd one to arrive in few months! I’m an only child and I always wish I had a sibling that I can just run to whenever needed. For that reason, I don’t want my daughter to feel alone. We want a bigger family so she has siblings to share a bond with.
She knows that I have a baby in my tummy so I always try to keep her involved whenever it comes to doing anything for the baby (dr visits, shopping, telling her she’s gonna be an awesome big sister and all the fun things we will do with the baby).  I do this so she doesn’t ever feel that any attention is being taken away and she will always be my 1st love. it’s also to help her make a bond with the baby so she can understand this baby will also be a very special part of life and will love her a lot as a big sis!
So don’t stress too much mama! Make the best out of your pregnancy! And remember children are like clay..you can mold the clay any way you want and it’s up to you to decide what is best for them!

Sometimes I do feel a little guilty. But then I think about the fact that growing up, we can all do so many fun things together. As an only child, it’s important to me to have more than one child. You just have to remember to give your first a little bit of undivided attention every now and then.

For a brief moment I did but I think he will really enjoy having a sibling. He will have just turned 2 when baby is born. He already gets excited when he’s around other babies! 😊

I just try to make my LO a very big part in everything. Hes been with me to all my doctors appointments, ultrasounds, shopping, he got to open the box at the gender reveal. The sonographer  gave him his own pictures of his baby sister. We just try to include him in every thing and he’s really excited about becoming a big brother
