Did you guys give rice cereal? (At 4 months)

I feel like my son is giving signs he’s ready to eat a little more but i do t think i want to give rice cereal. What’s a good alternative? We are going to do BLW  so i don’t want to mess that up with like Applesauce. But i feel like four months is too young as well. Doctor said he’s ready for rice cereal but i don’t want to give it to him. Should i just give him more BM than i do now?

Rice cereal is way too constipating for little tummies. The oatmeal cereal is much easier to digest.

I will never ever give any of my kids rice cereal. My son got so constipated. I have him oatmeal instead.

We didn’t start food until 6months my daughter is 9months and literally eats anything and everything I eat. She never tolerated rice cereal (her father and my FIL gave it to her, she puked for days)

We started with puréed fruits , then oatmeal   Cereal. But I never gave any food until 5 1/2 months. 
If he is sitting unsupported.
Watching you eat.
Wanting your food, reaching for
Your food.
You will know when they are ready but those are key signs. And she only gets the cereal 2 times a day with a fruit

when I gave rice cereal, my baby didn’t poop for days! Best to wait a while, until baby shows interest in your food.

I'm on my 6th baby an I have a 3.5mon old an he Is already eating baby food at night for dinner none of kids started at the same time. ur baby will let u know when he Is ready rice cereal is the best to start with or banana so or pears or carrots sweet potato really anything that has a bland taste I have  a kid start at 6weeks on rice cereal off a spoon an 1that was 9m an only thing he would eat was sweet potatoes and spinage or peaches look up the cues he should be giving if he's ready when he starts giving them then

I would go with your suggestion of giving him more BM. Better to start solids closer to six months (unless reflux is a problem, and per doctors okay).

I never did rice cereal, just oatmeal. After that avocado and then I started on baby food. I did at 4 months but only because my son was huge (19 pounds at four months) and I felt formula alone just wasn’t enough.
