I am 37 weeks pregnant and was diagnosed positive for herpes in 2013.

Since becoming pregnant I have had more outbreaks than I did pre-pregnancy in this short amount of time! They have been much worse and a lot more painful (doctor said this was due to low immune system in pregnancy).

At around 3 months pregnant I was told I tested positive for group b strep, this meaning I’ll have a drip when my waters break to give me antibiotics to protect my baby.

Over the past couple of weeks I have felt as though I have a water infection/thrush, so I when I was at the Midwife last week I had a swab, this then came back as positive for group b strep again, meaning it hasn’t left!

All those symptoms weren’t a water infection it was herpes coming back again. So at 37 weeks I’m currently having an active outbreak and I am positive for GBS both of these can be fatal if passed to my baby!

At my first consultant appointment I was told if I had an outbreak after 36 weeks i can choose to have a c section. I do feel as though this would be the most safe option for my baby and it gives me peace of mind that nothing can be passed on to her!

Is there anyone else who has/or has known someone who has gone through something similar? Gotten the c section? Had a natural birth? Positive stories!
