Is it ok not to wear g’s during period?

Question

Can only wear pad after severe tearing during childbirth. Regular underwear underneath is not an option. Too many layers. Pad always slides around and it’s so messy and I’m so frustrated.

garments are a symbol. wear them whenever you can, but sometimes it is not a good option.

I was told by the temple worker when I went for my endowment that I can wear them on my period.  That if I chose I could wear underwear outside the garments to help keep a pad in place, or if I was more comfortable wearing underwear under my garments to keep a pad in place that it was perfectly acceptable.  She said the most important thing was for me to wear my garments and keep my covenants, and that however I chose to handle my period was up to my personal comfort level and whatever worked for me.  I do have a handful of garments that I keep as my “period garments”, usually my cotton ones because they are easier to bleach and I’m less upset when I have to replace them for whatever reason.

I don’t think the Lord would be upset at all if you chose not to wear your bottoms while you heal. There are situations that make wearing them properly and respectfully not an option and I feel like situations involving health are valid reasons .

I always wear pads, and I wear a tight pair of underwear under my garment bottoms during my period. If the underwear are tight enough the pad won't slip around. However, I don't think it's the end of the world. (:
