What were your first baby items you purchased?

We found out we are having a baby boy and so now it’s time to start the purchasing to prepare for little man . We have a child but he is 9 so we are starting from square one with baby items . I feel overwhelmed and like I have no idea where to start. What did you start with?

Clothe first then a pack n play definitely

This is baby #3 for us, but we started shopping when we decided to try for another. The first thing I bought was a Jane Trider pram stroller due to a really great sale I couldn't pass up. Then I started and completed my newborn cloth diaper stash. Once I got my bfp, we started with the nursery furniture first. Now at 26+3weeks, I just ordered the baby's convertible carseat (skipping infant this time) yesterday since it was on sale and I had a 20% off coupon and gift cards so I was able to get a $330+ carseat for under $200! All I have left is a new carseat for my daughter as her current one won't fit 3 across, a crib mattress, swing and a few more decor pieces for the nursery.

My 1st purchases once I found out the gender was the crib and bedding. But I didn’t need to buy clothes with either of my kids bc my sister gave me all her kids clothes. So I guess that would change things. I didn’t start buying wipes and diapers until I was like 32 weeks bc I didn’t want to have to store them. You can also buy a few different brand of pacifiers if ur using them. Sometimes babies will only take a certain brand and it’s best to just try to find the one that fits best. I’ve had the best luck with tommee tippee pacifiers but all my sisters kids loved mam. 
Also if your having a baby shower you won’t really want to buy anything until after the shower.

I bought my wrap and car seat cover, because it was in sale, and I always wanted a MilkSnob wrap. Then bought gender neutral onesies that were on sale, then girl onesies because I found out gender, travel system, soaps and care kit, more clothes consistently, some diapers and wipes, a bassinet.

First purchase was diapers and wipes. Then I bought an auto rock and play. From there it snowballed and we basically just have the travel system, swing, and pack and play left.

I have a 9 year old also and now my son on the way. Definitely starting all over again. I too did not know where to even start but what I did is just set up a registry and they pretty much guide you on what to add and what you will need. I didn’t buy anything until after my baby shower then from there bought everything I didn’t get.

rock n play. pack n play. burp cloths & bibs. I started a diaper stockpile. baby bath items. plain onesies newborn to 6 month size. receiving blankets & swaddles. stuff for breastfeeding.
