Is it normal to bleed on the pill?

I just started Microgestin birth control, and me and my boyfriend had sex. After we were done, he noticed that I was bleeding. It was about a medium amount of blood, but I had to wear a pad the rest of the day and there was only light blood when I checked to see how heavy the flow was. Is that normal?)
