Best suburbs/cities in the us?

Looking for an affordable (like $130,000 house) suburb/city for a family that is anywhere but St. Louis. It is getting too dangerous here, at least one shooting every week and I live 20 mins from downtown. 
And if I go any more south then it’s hickville.

Montana or Wyoming, cost of living is low compared to most everywhere else

Pittsburgh. We live in a 4 bedroom house about an hour outside Pittsburgh and it’s some of the lowest cost of living in the country. We pay $530 a month for our mortgage and support a family of 5 on $42k a year.
