What causes spotting?

I’m eight weeks and have had light brown spotting for the past couple of days. I haven’t had sex or a pelvic exam so I’m wondering what else could be causing it.

I read a few articles saying sometimes brown discharge is caused from the uterus stretching and causing tiny vessels to pop. Brown discharge is old blood. I wouldn't worry unless it got bright red with clots and sever cramping. I had spotting for almost a week and it's finally slowing down. All my symptoms are still there and very strong so that gives me the indication baby is fine! Good luck!!

I’m currently 6 weeks and experiencing the same thing. Brown spotting nothing major only when I wipe( sorry tmi) it’s scary though! Fingers crossed!

From personal experience with this - I would call your doctor just to be sure and have them do a check for you. Just to be safe!

Could be due to low progesterone. Have them check your levels
