Telling family / friends that your TTC?

Question

Me and my partner decided not to mention to anyone that we were trying with the plan that when we fell pregnant it would be a nice surprise for everyone. 
Only we were very naive and thought it would happen pretty much straight away. 
Has anyone else tried to keep it a secret?

We didn’t tell a single person. It’s none of their business. And we didn’t want to be bombarded with questions every time we saw someone.

We both had a couple people that we told when we started trying. I think he was just excited about the possibility, and I knew I'd need mom friends to vent to. The only family member that knows is my sister in law though, and she's been a great supportive ear to listen and make suggestions during the time it's been taking us. Currently on our sixth month trying. We definitely get or fair share of "Time to add another to the family'" and other suggestive comments that I wish I could tell them the truth in regards. It is hard, but it's nice being able to be honest on here.

We haven't told anyone we're trying and we're going on 7 months. We just figured it'd make it harder having people ask questions or just knowing we were having troubles to begin with. But then we do get the "its time for you guys to have babies" comment every holiday so I guess it's kind of a lose-lose. 🙄
