How do I know if my baby is getting enough milk?

I’m breastfeeding (with a nipple shield) and I can’t tell if my baby is getting enough to eat. She weighed 6lb 14oz at birth and is down to 6lb 1oz on day 6. The doctor wasn’t really concerned today, but we’re going back in a week for a weight check. She has poopy and wet diapers. When I feed her she falls asleep quickly and is very hard to wake up to finish eating. How can I know if she’s eating enough? Or if I’m producing enough milk

They lose weight after birth, I would say if she’s eating every two hours then she is okay. You might have to be wake baby up to feed. If she’s content then she is okay :). My son was five pounds, went down, I’ve been BF and now he’s triple the size :)

If she's growing like normal, has normal diapers, acts normal, etc. everything is probably a ok! EBF mommas all go through this but everything sounds good to me. It's normal for babies to lose weight in the first few days and then they should start to gain it back. Don't worry it's all normal.
