Gluten intolerance in breastfed baby?
So my son is 7 weeks tomorrow and has pretty bad digestive issues. He has a ton of gas, watery poop, and reflux. We have done everything under the sun as far as what position we feed him in (he is bottle fed with all breast milk, as he wouldn’t latch... until yesterday but that’s another thing), different bottles, holding him upright after feedings, Zantac, gas drops, and a probiotic. I’ve been dairy free for 3 weeks. With all of this, we have had minor improvements in his discomfort. I’ve asked my ped about switching to a formula but they want us to wait. I noticed he is extremely gassy this morning (he keeps waking up crying, let’s out a HUGE fart, then goes back to sleep), and I had pasta for dinner last night. I myself have a mild wheat allergy (and Ibs, a dairy allergy, and reflux... poor guy inherited my digestive system) and I wonder if he’s sensitive to the wheat/gluten. Has anyone else experienced something similar? If so, how quick was the improvement after you cut it out? Again, ive already been dairy free for a while, I’m asking specifically about wheat/gluten. Thanks!
