Birth control before fertility meds?!?

Ok. So all test done. Low ovarian reserve. Exploratory laparoscopic for endometriosis done. Now I’m on first period after that. So I call to tell them I got my period and they started me on a birth control pill to take until my next appointment. I’m sure they have a good reason for doing this but has anyone else had to take birth control pills before the next step in this fertility journey? My appointment is only a week away but still.

Yes, I’ve been on them for two weeks as well to suppress my uterus and get rid of any cysts.

yep, I took the pill  for 2 weeks before I started my meds for my ivf. It's to help get a regulated starting point for treatment, and it helped eliminate a cycst in my overy

I’m on birth control now until my laparoscopy this month. I’m super bummed about it! BUT I’ll do anything I can do have a baby! Good luck!

Yup, it’s how my REs Office timed their IVF groups so we all started stims the same day. As someone with diminished ovarian reserve, we found that the birth control protocol wasn’t the best choice for me. (Don’t panic- It works for a lot of people with DOR.) I’m only mentioning this because if for any reason you respond slowly to the stims, you might want to ask about a different protocol like estrace priming, ganirelix, etc.

I just finished 3 weeks of BC. The way my Dr explained it was to "quiet down" my system to get it ready for the meds. I'm starting my two injections tomorrow, Gonal-f and Menopur. Good luck and baby dust!
