Breastfeeding and period?

I'm almost 6 weeks postpartum, and I believe I started my period 3 days ago. I stopped bleeding @3 weeks PP and just recently started again. I had menstrual like cramps but I didn't think you were supposed to have a period for a while, if at all, while breastfeeding?? Am I wrong?

I had something similar. I'm EBF my son. Stopped pp bleed at 2 weeks. Started bleeding again a 7 weeks pp. I asked on the breastfeeding forum and many women said they had a slight bleed early on, and then not another period for several months after that. I stopped after just 2 days of light bleeding. It's been a few weeks, and haven't had any more.

Generally with breastfeeding it only acts as a BC for a few months. You could be having our period

Everyone is different even if the baby isn't breastfed.

It varies woman to woman, some start it back early and some don't start back until they're done BF.
