should I test???

I am currently on the pill and I haven't had my period in a while. October I had my tonsils taken out and a few days after I started my period. November came and I never had it, then came December and I was late. on Christmas I was bleeding slightly when I wiped and thought I was gonna start so when I got home I got a tampon and did my thing. then next morning I took it out and there was hardly anything so the rest of the day I didn't use anything. the next day I went pee and wiped and there was just a little bit of blood. my husband and I have sex often and only protection is the pill. I took one test (a week ago) and it was negative but it was late afternoon so idk if not taking it in the morning effected the results at all? PLEASE HELP !
