I have a 1 week old and he’s fully breastfed, is nursing for 20 minutes every feeding every 2-3 hours is fine? that’s how long he stays on there. And do I have to nurse from both breast every feeding or is 1 side fine per feeding?

thats normal. i was advised to offer the other one but if he didnt want it i started with the breast he didnt use last feed 😊

Sounds like a very efficient feeder to me! Some babies just know what to do and so instead of taking ages to feed and learning to be more efficient they already have it down!! 👍🏻 well done mumma xx

My baby is also a week old and it's my third so I'm just offering 1 breast per feeding. My first kid I did both sides and ended up getting "stuck" having to feed from both for the duration of our nursing days. So I didn't want that again so by offering just 1 side it'll keep my supply up enough to maintain 1 side per feeding. But of course if she still acted hungry after a good feed from 1 side I'd offer the other but she's happy after 10-20 mins of feeding and will go 1-4 hours (depending how long she ate and if she was awake or asleep between the feedings). If baby is content after nursing, has enough wet diapers and you're not too uncomfortable from the engorgement while your supply settles then I wouldn't worry about it :) but who am I kidding, we're moms, it's our job to worry :P

I have a one week old and breast feed. My little one feeds for 30-35 mins every feed and generally has both boobs and she finishes each boob after 15 mins. Her feeds vary between 1hr 45 and 3hr 30 mins. I was told to offer both boobs and if they don’t want the other that’s fine. If there not having each boob you might need to hand express a tiny bit to stop engorgement.

I have a 3 Week old , and I was told to offer one breast for each feeding , so they can get the hind milk , which is the more fattier milk that actually fills the baby up . Everything is working out great for us , 3 weeks of EBF 💙
