Has anyone had to take leave during their first trimester due to morning sickness?

I am currently 8 weeks and have been put in hospital twice in the past week with hyperemesis gravidarum, needing IV fluids and meds. I work in a busy ED and there is no way I can go back to work when I am this sick. I am meeting with work tomorrow to see if I can get any leave for the next few weeks.

Just wondering if anyone has any previous experiences with this and how they went about it? I'll take any advice I can get
