Bathroom after IUI

Had my first IUI today! They told me to drink 24-32ounces of water so my bladder would be full - well I had to pee SO, SO bad I hardly could wait ten minutes after the procedure ! My DH says it was 10 minutes but I don’t know ... you think it’s ok to urinate so soon after? Any success stories ?!

Why did they want to keep the bladder full after the procedure? They asked me to have a full bladder for the procedure, stayed laid down for 15 min and then said I can use the restroom no problem. Maybe you miss understood. The only reason they want a full bladder is so they can see on the US where the catheter is going inside the uterus.

I was in that state during IVF transfer. To the point where RE is trying to excitingly show me the embryos in the microscope and I told him I would pee in his face if he didn’t put the embies in asap. I was miserable. They showed me where they placed the embryos in my uterus and event took a pic of them appearing as little lights in the Uterus. I was at that point holding RE’s hand crying from my bladder pain. They had to relieve me with a catheter immediately. Both those embryos took and are my now twin girls. In other words you have nothing to worry about. The bladder is only needed full for the placement of the catheter and being able to see in the US what’s happening. The second catheter is out you full bladder is useless.

Ideally, I just would have wanted to be comfortable during the procedure and while waiting/laying there for ten minutes after , rather than the state i was in which was counting down the minutes (While basically doing the “potty dance” laying down!) so I could run to the bathroom to release my bladder! Just hope that is okay
